General Location Information for Out of Town Guests
All wedding activities will be held between Lewes, Rehoboth Beach, and Dewey Beach, Delaware. Lodging in any of these locations will be within a quick drive of any activity. The wedding location is about a 20 min drive from each location.
Dewey Beach will be the easiest location to walk to and from activities before and after the wedding. Rehoboth will be the next closest location followed by Lewes. Each town is charming and has water front options. Rehoboth boasts a beautiful boardwalk with plenty of shopping and eating options.
We recommend staying near the beach, since that’s why we live here and the beach is one of the main attractions.
Airports
We recommend flying into either Baltimore (BWI) or Philadelphia (PHL). It will be a 2 to 2.5 hr ride from either location. The ride from Baltimore will be more rural and the ride from Philadelphia will be more highway. The choice is yours. I usually pick the one with the direct flight to and from my location.
DC airports are also an option. Also 2.5-3hrs out. Just know, DC traffic can be a HEAVY and add significant travel time to your drive.
Train Station
Amtrak’s closest station is in Wilmington, DE. The drive from Wilmington is about 2 hours. Jess loves this option when traveling to and from Connecticut. The train ride is about 5-6 hours from New London.
If you plan to travel by train, you can rent a car in Wilmington. Or, check out the car services and options under public transportation. Please feel free to let Jess know if you plan to travel by train and she can help connect you with others for car pooling.
Public Transportation to the Delaware Beaches
Negative. There is no public transportation from any airport to the Delaware beaches. Renting a car is the only way to get here. There are car services that will transport you to and from the airports. We like Atlantic Transportation. Uber or Lyft is also an option. It’s been done.
